BranBlog #10
A.K.A. I can’t believe I’ve kept up with this blog for so long.
I watched a movie the other day called Julie and Julia, a movie about Julie Powell, a blogger and Julia Child, famous chef. As of now it’s free to watch on Tubi.
(not a sponsorship, I just really liked the movie.)
It made me think about how bad I miss these specific types of movies. But there really is no place for these in theaters anymore. What’s worse is that I get why.
Tickets are expensive and if people are gonna pay for anything these days, it’'ll be for a blockbuster, which I can’t blame them for. A movie like Julie and Julia wouldn’t be made today and if it was, it’d be shoved on to Hulu or would be distributed in 10 theaters globally.
No one is gonna drive 3 hours for a heartwarming drama about a blogger when they can drive 20 minutes to their local AMC to watch Chris Pratt stuggle in the booth as he unenthusiastically voices Mario.
Where’s my Julia Child themed popcorn bucket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can’t lie, this is pretty cute. That’s why I’m part of the problem.
There’s a million other reasons why Julie and Julia is missed in my heart. It makes me feel cozy and it supplies a feeling of hope that nice movies can be made. Sure, it’s not high art, but I think these movies have its place.
Side note: I really miss cable tv commercials, it gives me time to talk about what I just saw with my ethereal otherworldly girlfriend. It’s fun to laugh about the million side effects of Ozempic.
Pausing a movie on streaming is boring and cold. On Tubi, they bombard you with the same TikTok for Teens ads four times in a row.
Anyway, thanks, here is a song I love.
