I watched the Mario Movie the Galaxy 2

As a Mario freak, I LOVED it! but as someone who is 25 years old and whose brain is finally fully developed, I agree with the criticisms my poor girlfriend had so much so that it left me feeling conflicted.

I took my beautiful girlfriend with me and was curious going into it to see what she thought given the movie was clearly made strictly for fans of Mario and less so general audiences.

She liked looking at how colorful and action packed it was but we both agreed that there was nothing to grasp story wise.

A few days later we watched the first movie and she liked THAT one better. She noted it was much easier to follow and be invested in.

It left me thinking: do I love or hate it?

The movie barely works because there isn’t a real substantial emotional throughline that is explored enough.

They constantly tease really fun character drama, like with Bowser and his son and with Rosalina and Peach but then the movie is over before we even have time to explore any of it.

My experience with The Mario Galaxy Movie is like if I ate a giant delicious HOMEMADE chocolate chip cookie. A cookie made special just for me. Maybe others might hate the cookie, but it’s what I like so, who cares?

Is it just a video game kids movie? Yes! but do I like it? Yes!
