BranBlog #7
Today, I wanted to talk about an album I’ve really loved. Bleeds by Wednesday. I was writing a bit about it and then realized I started to sound like an AI generated music critic, which made my stomach turn so I stopped. But I wanted to post it anyway so here.
The album starts off with Reality TV Argument Bleeds, it begins with a very quiet and slow drum beat that explodes into one of my favorite lines on the album. “Pickin’ the ticks off of you, ‘if you need me I’ll call you’”
Candy Breath is my favorite track off the album aside from the singles. (All the singles we’re the stand out best songs on the album, but Pick Up That Knife took me a while to get into it. I only really loved it when I listened to it on the album.
As if Director Lance Bangs couldn’t get cooler, he did what he does best and directed the music video for Townies, the second song off the album. Featuring Jon Wurster from Mountain Goats and Superchunk (and the Best Show, my favorite radio show turned podcast)
Midwestern sleaze charm and the plea for a better future in times of death (?)
Wednesday’s Karly HARTZMAN loves the storytelling aspect of country music, but part of what gives Wednesday their specific sound is the twang of lap steel by Xandy Chelmis.
Anyway, yeah! I loved it!
GO LISTEN…..
