While suffering through “that unemployed friend at 12pm” syndrome”, this last thursday, I went to the movie theater to rewatch One Battle After Another. Ultimately, a movie made with the intention to show the lenghts a father would go for his daughter. A movie where the main character essentially does nothing and wins out of sheer love. Motion picture of the YEAR.

A lot of Paul Thomas Anderson’s movies have a lot to do with love. It makes sense! Love comes in many forms, it can be tragic, like in Magnolia and Boogie Nights, but it can also be the reason you pick your life back up again, like in Punch Drunk Love.

My taste in movies comes from many places, but what will truly hook me is a movie about love. Love is an umbrella term though, A movie about misplaced love, lost love, found love, distorted love? As long as it’s got the four letter word as a center piece, it’s got me interested.

The movies are going through severe change. People don’t flock to the latest Marvel, no matter how nuts it is. People don’t go to any movies really. They’ll wait to see it on HBO Max or something at 2x’s speed and I think that’s fine. I’m not a snob, people can watch whatever they want. Regardless, good movies are always being made.

But who thought that a Tron movie with Jared “Sex Crime Vampire” Leto in 2025 would work? At the very least, the movie gave the world a new Nine Inch Nails album that people will forget about! SO THAT’S NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
